Trauma-Informed Therapy for Expats Living Abroad

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist providing trauma-informed, culturally responsive therapy for English-speaking expats living in Europe and Asia.

My practice is focused primarily on individual therapy for adults navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, family-of-origin concerns, relationship challenges, and the psychological complexity of building a life in a new country. Many of the individuals I work with are high-functioning, accomplished, and thoughtful people who are seeking care that is both clinically rigorous and attuned to their lived experience.

Living abroad often intensifies existing stressors. Distance from familiar support systems, cultural dislocation, relationship strain, and professional pressure can converge in ways that are difficult to manage alone. My work reflects a deep understanding of the emotional and relational realities of expatriate life.

Clinical Approach

My approach is integrative, trauma-informed, and relational. I draw from attachment-based therapy, nervous system regulation, and somatic awareness to support meaningful, sustainable change.

Therapy is a collaborative process. Rather than offering prescriptive solutions, I work carefully and deliberately, helping clients understand longstanding patterns, develop greater internal stability, and make thoughtful shifts in how they relate to themselves and others.

This work is particularly well-suited for individuals addressing complex trauma, relational or narcissistic abuse, chronic anxiety, or the cumulative stress of long-term expatriate living.

Areas of Focus

I provide individual therapy for adults seeking support with:

  • Trauma and complex trauma

  • Anxiety and panic

  • Depression and mood concerns

  • ADHD and executive functioning challenges

  • OCD

  • Family-of-origin and attachment-related issues

  • Relationship concerns

  • Recovery from emotional or relational abuse

  • Cultural adjustment and expatriate stress

While my practice is centered on individual therapy, I also offer couples therapy on a selective basis.

Professional Background

I have worked in the mental health field since 2008 and hold a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Mercy University in New York. My clinical experience includes work with individuals, families, and adolescents across inpatient, outpatient, and intensive in-home settings, in both rural and urban communities.

Much of my work has centered on supporting refugees, immigrant families, and individuals facing chronic or life-limiting illness, grounding my practice in cultural humility and systemic understanding. Alongside my clinical training, I am a trauma-informed yoga instructor with advanced study in somatic approaches to healing, including training in India focused on working with the impact of trauma on the nervous system.

I have lived and worked internationally and currently live as an expat, with several years of experience supporting individuals navigating life outside their culture of origin. This perspective informs a thoughtful, globally attuned approach to therapy—one that honors complexity, context, and the deeply personal nature of healing.

Working Together

My practice is well-suited for individuals who value discretion, depth, and thoughtful care. Many of my clients are accustomed to high standards in their professional lives and seek therapeutic work that reflects the same level of intention and professionalism.

If you are living abroad and looking for a therapist who understands both psychological complexity and the realities of expatriate life, I invite you to get in touch.
